The United States Golf Association has announced the complete slate of local and final qualifying sites for the 126th U.S. Open Championship, which will be contested June 18–21, 2026 at historic Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, New York.

From mid-April through early June, thousands of professionals and elite amateurs will attempt to earn one of the most coveted spots in golf — a place in the national championship.

As the USGA proudly states, the U.S. Open remains “the most open championship in golf.”

• Eligibility: Professionals and amateurs with a Handicap Index® not exceeding 0.4

How U.S. Open Qualifying Works

The qualifying structure consists of two stages:

🏁 Local Qualifying (18 holes)

• 110 sites
• Conducted between April 20 – May 18
• Held across 46 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico
• Top finishers advance to Final Qualifying

🏆 Final Qualifying (36 holes)

• 13 sites worldwide
• England (May 18)
• Japan (May 25)
• Canada (June 8)
• 10 U.S. sites (May 18 & June 8)

Nine U.S. sites will host final qualifying on June 8, famously known as “Golf’s Longest Day.” Golf Channel will again provide extensive live coverage of the 36-hole marathon.

A Record of Interest

The 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont accepted 10,202 entries, marking the fourth time in history that entries exceeded 10,000. The previous record was 10,187 in 2023 at Los Angeles Country Club.

Expect another massive number in 2026.

Shinnecock Hills: A National Championship Icon

The 2026 championship will mark Shinnecock Hills’ sixth U.S. Open and its place as the only course to host the championship in three different centuries.
