DP World Tour Qualifying School decides who earns playing opportunities on the DP World Tour and its HotelPlanner Tour feeder circuit for the coming season. First Stage spreads across ten venues in seven countries in late summer; Second Stage gathers the survivors at four Spanish sites; and Final Stage brings 156 players to INFINITUM for six rounds, a cut after 72 holes, and a card for roughly one in ten.
It is also one of the busiest amateur crossroads in European golf. Elite amateurs who played the Amateur Championship, the European Amateur and the Walker Cup matches in summer regularly tee it up at First Stage in August, and a handful carry amateur status all the way to Spain. How does DP World Tour Qualifying School work?
Three stages: First Stage (72 holes at sites across Europe, late August to September), Second Stage (72 holes at four venues in Spain, late October to early November), and Final Stage (six rounds at INFINITUM in Tarragona, Spain, in November, with a cut after 72 holes).
How many DP World Tour cards are available at Final Stage?
The leading finishers and ties at Final Stage — in recent seasons the top 15 to top 20 and ties — earn DP World Tour membership for the following season. Everyone who makes the 72-hole cut receives HotelPlanner Tour status.
Can amateurs enter DP World Tour Q-School?
Yes. Amateurs with a sufficiently low handicap or world ranking can enter at First Stage, and exempt amateurs — for example leading players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking — can enter at later stages. Amateurs who earn a card must turn professional to take up membership.
Where is Final Stage played?
Final Stage is played over the Lakes and Hills courses at INFINITUM (formerly Lumine) near Tarragona, Spain. Players alternate the two courses for the first four rounds; the final 36 holes are on the Lakes course.
