Sean David of Wales captures South of Ireland Amateur Open Golf Championship

Sean David produced one of the championship's most memorable comebacks Sunday at Lahinch, rallying from three holes down with six to play to defeat fellow Welshman Tomi Bowen, 1 up, and claim the prestigious South of Ireland Amateur title. The victory capped an impressive week for the 23-year-old from Pyle & Kenfig, who survived a loaded field and won the first all-Welsh final in the championship's history.

The championship featured its share of surprises long before the final. Stroke-play medalist Connor Graham of Scotland, who fired a dazzling 62 in qualifying and will represent Great Britain & Ireland in his third Walker Cup when the matches return to Lahinch in September, saw his title hopes end in the Round of 16 with a loss to Ireland's Thomas Higgins. Defending champion Jonathan Keane of host club Lahinch also made an early exit, falling to Ciaran Murphy in the opening round of match play.
