Fifa Laopakdee needed a remarkable finish to win his first Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship. To win it again, he needed to hold his nerve after the opportunity arrived.

The 21-year-old Thai did both at Te Arai Links on Sunday, overturning Zack Swanwick’s overnight advantage before protecting his own lead through a demanding closing stretch. A one-under 70 secured a three-shot victory and made Laopakdee only the second player to win consecutive editions of the championship.
