South Carolina Amateur: Easley’s Austin Langdale holds off Sam Jackson to win

The 31-year-old protected a five-shot lead at Quixote Club, holding off fellow Mid-Am Sam Jackson by two.

Austin Langdale of Easley carried a five-shot advantage into Sunday’s final round of the South Carolina Amateur, watched it grow to seven and then held off a determined back-nine charge from Sam Jackson (West Columbia) to win by two strokes at Quixote Club.

Langdale closed with a 1-over 71 to finish at 8-under 272, while Jackson posted his second consecutive 68 to finish at 6 under. At ages 31 and 33, respectively, the two produced an unusual Mid-Amateur 1-2 finish in a championship typically dominated by college-aged players. But that wasn't nearly as remarkable as senior golfer Todd White winning the title in 2023 - a rarity in any state amateur golf championship!
