Owen Sawyer completed a historic title defense, firing a final-round 8-under 64 to cruise to a seven-shot victory at the Iowa Amateur Championship at Beaver Hills Country Club in his hometown of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
The Iowa State junior finished at 16-under 200 after rounds of 66-70-64, comfortably ahead of two-time Iowa Amateur champion Nate McCoy of Ankeny, who carded 69-71-67 to finish runner-up at 9-under 207. Brock Snyder of Ames claimed solo third at 8-under 208, while Jake Weissenburger of Clive and Maxwell Tjoa of Cedar Falls shared fourth at 6-under 210.
