Jorge Maicas
Jorge Maicas stood over a birdie putt on the 18th hole at Biarritz Golf Club with a chance to win outright. The attempt rolled close, but not close enough. No matter. The Spaniard had waited a year for redemption, and he wasn't about to let another playoff slip away.
Maicas birdied the first extra hole to claim the Biarritz Cup, outlasting France's Benjamin Kedochim and Switzerland's Maximilien Sturdza after all three finished the 54-hole championship at 11-under 196. It was sweet revenge for Maicas, who lost in a playoff at this same event last summer when Victor Dubuisson, the former Ryder Cup star, bested him for the title.
