Bryce Hanstad wins Minnesota Amateur 19 years after first title

Bryce Hanstad stood over an 8-footer for birdie on the 17th hole Wednesday afternoon at StoneRidge Golf Club, five shots back entering the day and needing something special to contend. The putt dropped, moving him to 5-under for the championship and into the early clubhouse lead.

It held up—barely. When University of Minnesota sophomore Torger Ohe three-putted for bogey on the first playoff hole, the 39-year-old from Edina had claimed the 123rd Minnesota Amateur Championship, his second win in the event and first state title since 2014.
