Carson Bellish holds steady to capture Ohio Amateur at The Virtues

Carson Bellish stood on the practice green at The Virtues Golf Club on Friday morning with a two-shot lead and the memory of Thursday's weather-interrupted third round still fresh. Seven holes into that round, he'd been 8-under for the championship. By the time darkness and delays forced officials to halt play, he'd surrendered strokes but kept the advantage.

The Pickerington resident made sure those shots didn't slip away. Bellish closed with an even-par 72 to claim the Ohio Amateur Championship at 7-under 281, holding off a pair of challengers down the stretch at the Nashport layout.
