Arizona holds off Patrick Adler, Marquette to win Windon Memorial

Adler won the individual competition for the Golden Eagles, while Arizona won the team competition by three shots

Tiger Christensen and Zach Pollo led Arizona to a three-shot win at the Windon Memorial Classic at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill. Arizona shot rounds of 279-284-279 to finish 10-under and win the Classic by three shots over Marquette, who finished in solo second place at 7-under. 

The Golden Eagles carded rounds of 290-280-275 to finish 7-under. They were 11 shots back of the Wildcats after the opening round and, despite a 9-under 275 final round, could not close the gap.

Northwestern finished in solo third place at 2-over, Kansas finished in solo fourth place at 6-over, and South Florida finished in solo fifth place at 8-over. Illinois finished in solo sixth place at 9-over.

In the individual competition, Patrick Adler of Marquette finished 11-under to win by a comfortable five shots. 

The senior went wire-to-wire, carding rounds of 65-69-68 to secure the win. Christensen and Pollo led Arizona to the win by finishing in solo second place and T3 at 6-under and 5-under.

Jacob Modleski of Notre Dame tied Pollo, also finishing T3 at 5-under.

Cameron Adam of Northwestern finished in solo fifth place at 4-under to round out the top ten.

Adler has put together an impressive 2024 thus far, winning the South of Ireland Open in late July, finishing in solo 17th place at the Gopher Invitational, and rising up to No. 441 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com U.S. Rankings.

Christensen recently took down the No. 2 ranked Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt in the match play portion of the U.S. Amateur. Pollo won the 2023 California Amateur.
