Kevin Waldie captures first Kentucky Match Play title

Kevin Waldie survived a gauntlet at Owensboro Country Club to claim his first Kentucky Match Play Championship, closing out Robbie Keyes of Hurstbourne Country Club 2 & 1 in Sunday's final.

The EClub Kentucky Central member faced three consecutive one-up matches in his quarterfinal and semifinal rounds before finding breathing room in the title match. Waldie topped Cameron Carrico one up in the quarters, then knocked off top seed Andy Roberts of the host club 6 & 5 in a lopsided semifinal that cleared his path to the championship.
