Logan Stauffer of Bloomington, IL, turned the tables on Michael Mounce, posting rounds of 67-72-72 to win the Bloomington-Normal Golf Association City Medal Play Championship by one shot at 3-under 211 at Bloomington Country Club.

The 2018 Illinois Mid-Amateur champion opened with a 5-under 67 to share the first-round lead. He followed with consecutive even-par 72s, his consistency over 54 holes proving enough to secure the title.

The victory also provided a measure of redemption after Stauffer lost to Mounce in the BNGA City Match Play final in June.

Mounce and Kyle English shared runner-up honors at 2-under 212. Both entered the final round tied with Stauffer for the lead, but Mounce closed with a 74 and English slipped to a 76, leaving Stauffer alone at the top.

Matthew Gumm finished fourth at 1-under 213 following rounds of 67-73-73, while Brian Zimmerman and Sam Rink tied for fifth at even-par 214.

The championship featured a three-stage cut across its 54-hole format. The top 32 and ties advanced after the opening round before the field was reduced to 18 players for the finale.

Stauffer was the only player among the leading contenders to avoid an over-par round all week, and that consistency delivered his first BNGA City Medal Play title while adding another victory to a résumé highlighted by his 2018 Illinois Mid-Amateur triumph.
