Texas and South Carolina emerged as the team champions at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, completing the three-day collegiate event with victories in Wednesday's match-play finals at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco.
Texas defeated Texas A&M 3-1 for the men's championship, while South Carolina topped Wake Forest 3-1 to claim the women's title.
The event began with 54 holes of stroke play Monday and Tuesday, after which the top four men's and women's teams advanced to match play.
Men's Team Championship
Texas entered match play as the No. 1 seed after finishing the stroke-play portion 21 shots clear of the field. The Longhorns carried that form into the championship match to secure their first team victory of the 2026-27 season.
Eduardo Derbez Torres put Texas ahead with a 4&2 victory over Kris Kuvaas before Texas A&M's Landon Ashcraft responded by defeating Adam Villanueva 6&4.
Daniel Bennett then delivered a crucial point against Aaron Pounds. After reaching the 18th all square, Bennett hit his approach to four feet and converted the birdie to win 1 up.
Freshman Brooks Harper provided the clinching point with a 4&3 victory over Wheaton Ennis. Matt Comegys was 2 up on Shiv Parmar through 15 holes when the team match was decided.
The victory completed a standout week for Texas. Bennett and Comegys had already shared the men's individual title after both finished the stroke-play competition at 9-under 207.
Women's Team Championship
South Carolina secured the women's title with a 3-1 victory over Wake Forest.
Vairana Heck defeated Havanna Torstensson 6&4, while Amelia Harris edged women's individual co-champion Macy Pate 1 up.
Molly McLean supplied another point with a comeback victory over Benedicte Brent-Petersen. McLean fell 2 down after opening double bogey-bogey but had turned the match around by the turn. She eventually closed out a 3&1 victory at the 17th.
Wake Forest's lone point came from Chloe Kovelesky, who defeated Eila Galitsky 6&5. Vidhi Lakhawala was 4 up on Alicia Olsson through 14 when South Carolina clinched the championship.
In the women's third-place match, Texas defeated Oregon 4-1, while Utah and Rice tied the men's third-place contest.
The team finals followed Tuesday's individual championships, where Texas teammates Bennett and Comegys shared the men's crown. Farah O'Keefe of Texas and Macy Pate of Wake Forest shared the women's individual title.
Established in 2021, the Jackson T. Stephens Cup honors former Augusta National Golf Club chairman Jackson Stephens and brings together leading NCAA Division I programs along with invited players from HBCUs and U.S. military service academies.
