New LSU Tiger Algot Kleen leads the Knoxville collegiate after two rounds

Kleen, who spent his first three seasons of collegiate golf at Eastern Tennessee State, leads Cameron Tankersley by one shot

Algot Kleen is wasting no time making his presence known in Baton Rouge.

The new LSU Tiger and former Eastern Tennessee State standout is leading the Visit Knoxville Collegiate at Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn., with one round remaining.

Through the first two rounds, Kleen is 9-under with rounds of 66-65 to lead the tournament by one shot.


Cameron Tankersley of Ole Miss is in solo second place at 8-under, and fellow ETSU transfer Matthew Dodd-Berry of LSU is in solo third place at 7-under. 

Kye Meeks of Ole Miss, Jake Peacock of South Florida, and Lance Simpson of Tennessee are 6-under and T4.

Kleen is currently ranked No. 74 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings and was a selection to the 2023 All-Southern Conference team and a PING All-Region selection.

In the team competition, Ole Miss and LSU are neck and neck, setting up for an exciting final round.

Ole Miss is in first place at 24-under, an LSU is in solo second place at 23-under. Host school Tennessee is in third place at 10-under, South Carolina is in fourth place at 8-under, and South Florida is in fifth place at 2-under.
