Iwanaga and Hiroyoshi Head to Playoff at Japan Women's Amateur

With the 72-hole championship complete and the board unchanged, Anna Iwanaga and Yurina Hiroyoshi remain deadlocked at 8-under par and will now contest a playoff to determine the Japan Women's Amateur champion at Hokkaido Brooks Country Club. Both players held their ground through the final round, forcing the sudden-death format. Minami Suzuki and Aira Nagasawa finished two strokes back at 6-under, unable to close the gap. Miku Fukuda and Ayamiri Kataoka ended at 3-under in T5. The playoff format will commence shortly to crown a winner.

Iwanaga and Hiroyoshi Deadlocked Atop Japan Women's Amateur After 4th Round

Anna Iwanaga and Yurina Hiroyoshi share the lead at 8-under par through 72 holes, setting up a playoff to decide the Japan Women's Amateur Championship. Iwanaga, who finished third at the Queen Sirikit Cup earlier this year, and Hiroyoshi, fourth at that same event, will return to settle the title. Two shots back at 6-under are Minami Suzuki and Aira Nagasawa, who placed T19 at Augusta National Women's Amateur in April. Miku Fukuda and Ayamiri Kataoka sit T5 at 3-under, while a four-way tie at 2-under rounds out the top 10.

Aira Nagasawa rallied from two strokes back with a final-round 66 to win the Japan Women's Amateur Championship (presented by Car Premier), finishing at 12-under 276 and claiming the national title by two strokes.

Nagasawa, representing Nihon Wellness Sports University, posted rounds of 68-70-72-66 to overtake overnight leader Yurina Hiroyoshi of Fukuoka Daiichi High School, who closed with 70 to finish at 10-under 278.

Anna Iwanaga of Osaka Toin High School took solo third at 9-under 279 after rounds of 71-70-67-71.

Nagasawa's closing 66 was the low round of the final day, featuring a back-nine 34 that provided the separation she needed. She moved up two spots on the leaderboard after entering Sunday's round in third place.

Hiroyoshi, who had shared the lead through 54 holes, couldn't match Nagasawa's pace despite a solid front nine of 37. The high schooler's 278 total (67-69-72-70) secured her runner-up finish ahead of Iwanaga.

Two players tied for fourth at 3-under 285: Hinata Hirayama of Yoro CC, who surged with a final-round 68, and Minami Suzuki of Miyako GC, who struggled to a closing 75.

A group of three finished in a tie for sixth at 1-under 287: Yura Shimada (Sapporo), Momo Kamiya (Meise CC), and Mitsuki Hashimoto (Hyogo Prefectural Federation).

Miu Kanie of Fukui Institute of Technology claimed solo 12th at 1-over 289, while five players tied for 13th at 2-over 290, including Yuki Ito and Koko Nakakoshi of Osaka Toin High.

The 36-hole cut fell at 4-over 148, with 66 players advancing to the final two rounds. Among those missing the weekend were Taiwanese competitor Ping-Hua Hsieh and another international entry, Olivia Hung, both of Chinese Taipei.
