Nick Kelsey built a cushion with a Saturday 66 and protected it Sunday, closing with a 1-under 71 to capture the Metro Amateur Golf Championship of New Orleans by a single shot at Bayou Oaks at City Park.
The Covington resident and Spring Hill College product finished at 7-under 137, becoming the 33rd New Orleans Metropolitan Champion after outlasting an elite field of the area's best amateurs over the 36-hole stroke play test.
