Kit Grove weathered an opening-round struggle, then surged past the field with a second-round 68 to claim the Kansas Senior Amateur Championship at even-par 142 at Topeka Country Club.
Grove, the 2009 Kansas Mid-Amateur champion from Lawrence, overcame a first-day 74 with a clean closing round that separated him from a crowded leaderboard. His three-shot victory margin held off a four-way tie for second at 3-over 145.
