Jirapon Carlson of Macon and Angie Lee of Columbus captured the Gross Division at the Georgia Women’s Team Tournament, while Melanie Lamb of Brunswick and Ginette Spinucci of Stone Mountain took home the Net Division title at Jekyll Island Golf Club’s Great Dunes Course.
The tournament concluded with a scramble format in the final round, producing a tight finish in both divisions.
Gross Division
Carlson and Lee delivered the best gross score of the final round, combining for a 5-under 67 to finish atop the standings.
Their one-shot victory came over Kathy Hudson and Lynn Wailes of Greensboro, who finished runner-up after a 4-under 68.
Kristyl Sunderman of McDonough and Danielle Davis of St. Simons Island were another shot back in third with a 3-under 69.
Velika Brown of Atlanta and Karen Bartlett of Johns Creek took fourth at 2-under 70, while eventual Net champions Spinucci and Lamb rounded out the top five with an even-par 72.
Net Division
Spinucci and Lamb emerged as the Net Division champions, completing the tournament with rounds of 67-70.
The pair's victory added a second strong result to their week after they also placed fifth in the Gross Division.
Carlson and Lee were among the leading performers in the final-round Net standings as well, matching Pam Mitchell and Farah Reynolds at the top with 7-under 65s.
Spinucci and Lamb posted a 5-under 67 in the final-round Net scoring, a number also matched by Hudson and Wailes and the Savannah team of Therese Shaffer and Connie English.
The tournament at Jekyll Island showcased two different winning combinations, with Carlson and Lee taking the Gross championship and Spinucci and Lamb securing the Net title.
