Jim Jankowski produced a dramatic late charge at his home course to win the New England Senior Amateur Championship, capturing both the overall and Super Senior titles at Baker Hill Golf Club in NH.
Jankowski followed rounds of 70-72 to finish at 2-under 142, one shot ahead of Andy Drohen, Brian Fitzgerald and Jack Kearney.
Senior Championship
Jankowski began the final round tied for the lead after an opening 70, but bogeys at Nos. 5 and 7 brought him back into a crowded title race. At one stage on the back nine, six players were tied for the lead at even par.
The championship began to take shape late.
2024 champion Andy Drohen made his move with a 2-under 70, the low round of the day, and birdied the 18th to reach 1-under 143 (73-70).
Brian Fitzgerald joined him at 1-under after a birdie on the par-3 17th, closing with a 71 for rounds of 72-71. 2018 champion Jack Kearney also reached the clubhouse at 1-under after rounds of 71-72.
Jankowski then separated himself from the pack.
He eagled the par-5 15th before making consecutive birdies at Nos. 16 and 17, a 4-under three-hole stretch that gave him a three-shot cushion heading to the 18th.
A closing double bogey reduced the margin, but Jankowski still finished one clear to become the first New Hampshire player to win the championship on home soil.
David Marshall (72-72), John Drohen (71-73) and Steven Tasho (70-74) shared fifth at even-par 144, leaving the top seven separated by just two shots.
Super Senior Championship
The victory also gave Jankowski the Super Senior title, making him the fourth player to win both the overall championship and Super Senior division since the latter was introduced in 2008.
Kearney finished second in the division at 1-under 143, with Tasho third at even-par 144.
Michael Hooper placed fourth at 1-over 145 (73-72), while Donald Foberg rounded out the top five at 3-over 147 (75-72).
