Florida wins the Windon Memorial, Michigan's Kyle Mueller Medals

The Gators' young talent leads the way to victory while Michigan's Kyle Mueller takes the individual title.

GLENVIEW, Il. (September 26, 2016) -- The Florida Gators have captured their first collegiate event of the 2016-17 season with a victory at the Windon Memorial hosted by North Shore Country Club. The Gators tallied a three-round total of 861 (-3) to defeat runner-up Eastern Michigan by five shots and University of Michigan by nine. Florida was led by sophomore Gordon Neale who finished with rounds of 70, 70, and 72 for a total of 212 (-4) and a tie for 2nd finish. Freshman and 2012 U.S. Open participant Andy Zhang finished in a solo sixth place while junior Ryan Celano finished in a tie for 8th. The individual title was won by Michigan junior Kyle Mueller who put together a stellar final round 67 (-5) on a day that saw more scores in the 80's than the 60's. Mueller's 67 was the lowest by three shots on the day and led him to a three-shot victory over Neale and Northwestern's Dylan Wu. This is the second individual win for the two-time All-Big Ten Team member.
