Naughton Holds Off Örtengren to Win European Ladies Amateur by Two

Charlotte Naughton (England's Longhirst Hall GC) briefly stumbled after holding the lead all day with a double bogey on the 17th hole. Despite that hiccup, her margin held and the incoming Texas freshman closed a birdie to capture the European Ladies Amateur Championship at 8-under 280, finishing two strokes clear of Meja Örtengren. Naughton carded 72 in the final round, after holding at least a share of the lead through all four rounds.

With the win, Naughton earned a spot in the AIG Women's Open on July 30–Aug 2, 2026 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.

"I grew up playing links golf, and I can handle the wind," said Naughton as she anticipated her start in a major next week.

Stanford golfer Örtengren (Sweden's Landeryds GK), who entered the day one back, posted 72 and finished solo second at 6-under 282. The Swede -- playing in front of a supportive hometown gallery -- made a double bogey on the 15th hole, erasing any late pressure she might have applied. Ebba Nordstedt and Sara Brentcheneff (Golf Club de Lyon) tied for third at 5-under 283, while Savannah De Bock (Royal Waterloo) and Alvilda Julia Wiberg (Smørum) shared fifth at 4-under 284.

Allerum, Sweden — Charlotte Naughton of England fired a 5-under 67 on Saturday to seize a two-stroke lead heading into the final round of the European Ladies Amateur Championship at Allerum Golfklubb.

Naughton, representing Longhirst Hall Golf Club, stands at 8-under 208 (69-72-67) through 54 holes of the 72-hole stroke play championship, the premier women's amateur event on the Continent conducted by the European Golf Association.
