Cooper Claycomb leads South Beach International after round one

Claycomb shot a first round 9-under 62 and leads star junior golfer Miles Russell by one shot heading into the second round

Cooper Claycomb shot an impressive first-round 9-under 62 to take the first-round lead at the South Beach International Amateur at Miami Beach Golf Club and Normandy Shores Golf Club in Miami Beach, Fla.

Claycomb, a sophomore at Louisville, recorded a bogey-free round with nine birdies at Miami Beach Golf Club.

Standout junior golfer Miles Russell shot a first-round 8-under 63 at Miami Beach Golf Club and is one off the pace of Claycomb. Russell finished T2 at the 2023 South Beach International. He held the 54-hole lead and shot a second-round 10-under 60 at Normandy Shores to tie the course record.
