A Century of Champions: 103rd New York Men's Amateur tees off at Glens Falls

The state's top amateurs chase the century-old Ganson Depew Cup over 72 holes on Donald Ross's volcano greens in the Adirondacks

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. — The greens at Glens Falls Country Club rise from their surrounds like volcanoes, a Donald Ross signature that's aged well over 106 years. This week, 156 of New York's top male amateurs will navigate those crowned putting surfaces in pursuit of the century-old Ganson Depew Cup at the 103rd New York State Men's Amateur Championship.

Play begins Tuesday morning over Ross's 6,574-yard, par-71 layout in the foothills of the Adirondacks. After 36 holes Wednesday, the low 40 and ties advance to Thursday's final two rounds. A sudden-death playoff will settle any tie atop the leaderboard after 72 holes.
