All-American: Texas Tech uses strong final round to win by two shots

Yuki Moriyama of UNLV won the individual competition on the first playoff hole over Bret Gray
Texas Tech shot a final round of 1-under to win the 2024 All-American Intercollegiate Championship at the Golf Club of Houston, the Tournament Course, in Humble, Tex.
The Red Raiders finished 7-over after rounds of 296-288-287 to win by two shots over Sam Houston, who finished in solo second place at 9-over.
Texas Tech found themselves eleven shots back of the lead after round one, but they played the last two rounds at 1-under to complete the comeback win.
Texas State finished in solo third place at 10-over, UNLV finished in solo fourth place at 11-over, and host school Houston finished in solo fifth place at 12-over.
Yuki Moriyama of UNLV defeated Bret Gray of Sam Houston on the first playoff hole with a birdie on No. 18 after both gofers finished 5-under.
Moriyama carded rounds of 73-67-71, while Gray carded rounds of 69-72-70 to get to 5-under.
Moriyama is currently ranked No. 86 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com U.S. Rankings.
Santiago De La Fuente of Houston and Jack Burke of Texas State finished T3 at 4-under, and Caden Fioroni of UNLV finished in solo fifth place at 3-under, rounding out the top five. De La Fuente won the 2024 Latin America Amateur and will be teeing it up at The Master's Tournament in April.

Moriyama was named the Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week after the Kanagawa, Japan native recorded his first career collegiate win.
