2024 U.S. Open Local Qualifying Results
The USGA has started local qualifying for the 127th U.S. Open Championship scheduled from June 13 to June 16, 2024, at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club (Course No.2), Village of Pinehurst, NC. bringing the total number of local qualifying sites to 109 in 2024.

Amateur golfers with a handicap of .4 or lower are eligible to apply.

Local qualifying, comprising an 18-hole round, will take place at 109 sites across 44 states and Canada from April 22 to May 14. Players who advance from local qualifying will join exempt players in sectional qualifying, conducted over 36 holes at 13 sites – 10 in the U.S., one in England, one in Canada, and one in Japan.

Last year, Wyndham Clark cemented his name in the history books, winning the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, Los Angeles, Calif.

Gordon Sargent of Vanderbilt finished as the low amateur. Sargent is the No. 1 ranked player in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.

Hughes Threlkeld, a junior at North Georgia, shot a 5-under 65 to earn medalist honors

Caleb VanArragon, a fifth year student at Valparaiso shot 4-under 66 for a runner-up finish at the qualifier. There was a 5-for-3 playoff to determine the last three spots. Nate Stevens of Notre Dame, Blair Webb and Anthony Delisanti, a junior at Valparaiso and VanArragon's teammate earned those spots, while Caleb Sanderson and Maxwell Scodro earned the last two alternate spots.

Swedish Joel Sylven and the American duo of amateur Gunnar Broin and Devon Liberty shot matching 4-under 67 to earn co-medalist honors at the qualifier. William Postlethwaite of England and American Peter Knade shot a 68 to finish tied-4th. There was a 9-for-1 playoff to determine the final spot. Chris Naegel, a regular on the KFT, pulled off a thrilling win to earn the last available spot.

A total of 117 golfers entered the local qualifier for six available spots.

There was a 6-for-4 playoff to determine the final four spots. Duke senior Jimmy Zheng, Michigan commit Dean Muratore, Duke junior Luke Sample and John Mackie shot matching 69 to earn those final four spots. John Guyton and amateur Griffin Lawlor earned first and second alternate spots respectively.

Jacob Golliday and Preston Dembowiak earned qualifying spots, while Hampton Roberts beat Blake McShea in a playoff to earn the final qualifying spot. McShea is the first alternate, and Daniel Choi is the second alternate.

The qualifier at Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club in Fair Oaks, Tex., saw five players share the co-medalist honors at 4-under 68, three Americans, namely, Jared Chinn, Austin Rose and Chad Sewell were joined by Callum McNeill of Scotland and Finnish amateur Sakke Siltala. There was a 3-for-2 playoff to determine the final two spots. KC Lim and amateur Austin Hofferkamp, both from Texas, survived the playoff to earn those spots. The qualifier at Alpine Country Club in Highland, Ut., saw amateurs dominate with four out of five spots going earned by them. Angus Klintworth, a redshirt sophomore at BYU, carded 4-under 68 to earn medalist honors. Kihei Akina who has committed to play golf at BYU soon shot a 69 to finish runner-up. Mitchell Schow was the only pro among the qualifiers, who shot a 70 to finish third. There was a 7-for-2 playoff to determine the final two spots. BYU freshman Cooper Jones and Utah State junior Julio shot matching 71 to earn those spots. Amateurs Peter Kim and Max Brenchley earned the first and second alternate spots respectively.

Columbia Country Club (Ridgewood/Tall Pines Course) 

Ryan Cole finished on top of the impressive field, recording a 6-under 66 round and four birdies in his first seven holes. Parker Gillam shot 5-under 67, and Blair Bursey, Shane Rogan, and Jonathan Nielsen all shot 4-under 68 to earn the final three qualifying spots. Carson Ownbey and Garret Reband made it through a 5-for-2 playoff to earn the two alternate spots.

18-hole stroke play qualifier open to male amateurs with a handicap of 0.4 and below. Players who advance will get to choose their top three sectional qualifying sites. The number of qualifying spots will depend on the size of the field.
