Wake Forest women's golf team won its eighth conference title in program history Sunday after two rain delays forced the championship match to be called Sunday night due to darkness at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, N.C.
With Wake Forest ahead in three matches and the top seed in the tournament, they won the title. This season marks the first time since 2019 that the women's golf team has won both the individual title, which Emilia Migliaccio won, and the team title.
In the semifinals, No. 1 seed Wake Forest defeated No. 4 seed North Carolina, 3-1, and No. 2 seed Clemson defeated No. 3 seed Virginia 3-2-0.
After a two-hour rain delay to start the day, Macy Pate and Carolina Lopez-Chacarra got two quick points for Wake Forest, while Brooke Rivers won the match on No. 18.
Wake Forest faced defending champion Clemson Tigers for the championship match. After a second weather delay due to unplayable conditions on the course, the matches continued until 7:45 p.m., when they were called due to darkness. Pate had already won her match, while Kuehn and Lopez-Chacarra were leading their respective matches.
At the time of the call, Wake Forest was leading in three of the five matches. Per the ACC bylaws, Wake Forest was the default champion since the Deacs were the highest remaining seed.

Rachel Kuehn leads Wake Forest to the top seed in match play
In the individual competition, Rachel Kuehn added to her impressive resume, winning the ACC title by three shots at 10-under. Kuehn shot rounds of 72-67-67 to get to 10-under and make up a five-shot deficit to Isabella Rawl of Clemson after round one.
Kuehn is ranked No. 5 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings. This was the seventh individual win of Kuehn's collegiate career.
According to Wake Forest, Brenda and Rachel Kuehn are the only known mother-daughter duo to both win the ACC women's golf individual championships.
