By Yianni Gogonas for AmateurGolf.com JOHNSTOWN, PA (June 15, 2017) - It was a short Thursday at the Sunnehanna Amateur, as those who did not finish 36 holes on Wednesday evening grinded out the remainder of their rounds this morning. Related: VIDEO: Ban Leads Sunnehanna Am After Long Day Anticipating poor weather, tournament organizers had the field play as much golf as possible on Wednesday to give everyone the best chance to complete 72 holes on time. Thirty-eight players managed to finish both of their rounds Wednesday; the other sixty returned to complete their rounds this morning. Zachary Bauchou, who finished in a tie for eighth in last year's event, took full advantage of his short opportunity, finishing a bogey free round during which he rolled in a staggering ten birdies. Having shot 71 in his first round, a 60 today has Bauchou sitting at 9-under-par, tied for lead with Shintaro Ban moving into Friday. SECOND DAY RECAP VIDEO "I think the key to scoring for me has just been to put the ball below the hole, so we can have some uphill putts," Bauchou explained of his game plan. "Keep the momentum I had today, pedal to the metal, and try to make a lot of birdies." Lloyd Jefferson Go ended his afternoon on Wednesday on fire, shooting 5-under-par on the front nine. "Warming up. Getting ready for it. Hopefully I can pick up where I left off." offered Go when asked on the range this morning how he might evoke the same level of play that we saw from him the previous day. Go continued his round this morning from the tenth hole. While he was not able to produce the fireworks that we were fortunate to catch a glimpse of on Wednesday, Go managed posting 1-over-par on the back nine, keeping himself in the hunt, tied for fifth place at 5-under-par. While conditions continue to soften as the tournament progresses, a close eye must be kept on a leaderboard with some of the most talented amateur golfers in the world. Tee times for Friday, weather permitting, will begin at 8:00 AM ET, with the leaders, Ban and Bauchou, taking their first swings at 1:20 PM ET. They will be playing with the defending champion Collin Morikawa who is tied for second, three shots back.
