Travis Smyth prevails in a playoff over Lucas Herbert to win the Riversdale Cup in Victoria, Australia

MT. WAVERLEY, Australia — In Australia's second oldest amateur tournament, Travis Smyth and Lucas Herbert were deadlocked after 72 holes at eight-under par 280. Smyth, of New South Wales, shot a final-round 70 after entering day four with a two-shot lead over Herbert, who shot his lowest round of the tournament to attempt at a comeback. His 68 sent the two to a playoff, where Smyth prevailed for the victory. The low round of the tournament went to Ben Eccles, whose 66 on Sunday shot him into the top-five where he tied for fourth place with Ryan Ruffels and Taylor MacDonald. Brett Coletta took third place.
