The top five seeds all won round-of-64 matches to advance to the round-of-32 of the 2025 San Francisco City Championship round at TPC Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco, Calif.
Co-medalists Joey Hayden and Jack Hayden of Dublin, Calif., advanced, but it was not easy. Joey won his match over Jayden Jew 3 and 2, and Jack won his match over Roshan Chandra in 19 holes.
Joey Hayden is a junior at Santa Clara, and Jack Hayden is a freshman. Jack qualified from the pre-qualifying round. All participants played one round at TPC Harding Park and one round at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
"There is so much history," Joey Hayden said after the stroke play qualifier. "My grandpa and dad played in this. And I love the format; there aren't many tournaments like that anymore. To get to play match play at Harding Park is pretty good."
Joey won the 2024 NCGA Stroke Play championship.
