Byungho Lee Claims Texas Amateur title, earns U.S. Amateur berth

Pepperdine standout Byungho Lee captured the 117th Texas Amateur at Spanish Oaks Golf Club, closing with a final-round 6-under 66 to secure a two-shot victory and earn an exemption into the 126th U.S. Amateur at Merion Golf Club.

Lee finished at 12-under 272, one of only two players to reach double digits under par during a week in which Spanish Oaks proved to be a stern test. After opening with rounds of 69-68-69, Lee entered the final round tied for the lead before pulling away with a back-nine charge that included an eagle on the par-5 11th and a birdie on the 12th.
