Styles edges Butler to win West of England Stroke Play title at Saunton

Henry Styles of Romford Golf Club overcomes one shot to beat Harry Theodore for the title

Henry Styles of Romford Golf Club held his nerve down the stretch at Saunton Golf Club, carding a final-round 73 to win the West of England Stroke Play Championship by one shot. The 18-year-old posted a 72-hole total of 7-over 291 with rounds of 76-74-68-73 to claim one of the most prestigious amateur titles in southwest England.

Styles entered the final round trailing Harry Theodore Butlerof Worplesdon Golf Club by one stroke but turned things around with a steady closing round. While Butler slipped with a 75 on the final day to finish at 8-over, Styles kept his composure to move one clear and lift the trophy.

Ranked No. 1148 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings, Styles is part of the incoming Fall 2024 class at the University of San Francisco. He’s opened his 2024 season in encouraging form and looks to carry this momentum across the summer.

Alex Emms of The Vale (Bishampton) secured solo third at 9-over par after carding rounds of 75-73-74-71.
The tournament saw participation from 117 golfers, of which 40 made the halfway cut.
