Stephen Campbell Jr. takes over lead at the Patriot All-America Invitational

Oklahoma Sooner holds a two-shot lead heading into Saturday's final round after carding a 6-under 65 Friday at the Wigwam

Stephen Campbell Jr., a redshirt freshman at Oklahoma, moved to the top of the leaderboard at the Patriot All-America Invitational after carding a 6-under 65 in Friday's second round at the Wigwam Golf Club outside of Phoenix.

At 9-under 133, Campbell Jr. holds a two-shot lead over Purdue's Herman Sekne and his Oklahoma teammate and co-first-round leader Ben Lorenz.

Connor Jones of Colorado State (-6) and Gabriel Salvanera of Arizona State (-5) kept their title hopes alive by turning in rounds of 69 and 68 on Wigwam's Gold Course on Friday.

Campbell Jr. was just 1-under after his first 11 holes on Friday before catching a heater down the stretch. Aided by an eagle on the par 4 14th hole, Campbell Jr. played his last seven holes at 5-under par to turn in the lowest round of the day which vaulted the Richmond, Texas native six spots up the leaderboard into first place.

The final round of the 2022 Patriot All-America Invitational will be contested on Saturday.
