Southeastern Amateur: Hirschman tops Tuten in playoff

Grant Hirschman defeated Shad Tuten in a two-hole playoff to win the 85th Southeastern Amateur

COLUMBUS, Ga. (June 14, 2014) -- Grant Hirschman defeated Shad Tuten in a two-hole playoff to win the 85th Southeastern Amateur. Hirschman, an Oklahoma signee, and Tuten, who plays at Armstrong, both finished at 10-under after 72 holes of regulation play at the Country Club of Columbus. Tuten led overnight but Hirschman, who led earlier in the event, shot a final-round 1-under 70 to storm back and force the playoff with Tuten. Tuten shot 72 on Saturday. Hirschman carded rounds of 69-66-69-70 during his victorious effort. David Cooke, John Jonas and Cody Proveaux all finished tied for third place at 9-under. Cooke, who plays at Purdue, fired a 65 in the final round to surge up towards the top of leaderboard. Defending champion Seth Reeves of Georgia Tech fired rounds of 72-68-68-69 to finish alone in sixth place.
