South Carolina prevails at Bayou City Collegiate

The Gamecocks captured their third win of the season, beating Sam Houston State by two shots at the Golf Club of Houston

HUMBLE, Texas — South Carolina captured its third win of the season, beating Sam Houston State by two shots at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship, co-hosted by Rice and Houston universities. The Gamecocks, who previously have wins in the 2014-2015 season at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and the Camden Collegiate Invitational, were led by junior Will Starke and senior Will Murphy. Starke tied for fifth at four-under 212 while Murphy tied for tenth two shots behind Starke. Individual medalist honors went to Zach Cobra of second-place finishing Sam Houston State. With a final-round, 7-under 65, Cobra captured the title by two over Kyle Jones of Baylor, Kolton Crawford of Arkansas, and Raoul Menard of Charlotte.
