Semifinals set at North & South Women's Amateur

Playing Pinehurst No. 8, Lori Beth Adams, Michelle Piyapattra, Alison Lee and defending champion Ally McDonald all won two matches to advance to Saturday's semifinal round

VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. (July 18, 2014) -- The semifinals are set at the 2014 North & South Women's Amateur. Playing Pinehurst No. 8, Lori Beth Adams, Michelle Piyapattra, Alison Lee and defending champion Ally McDonald all won two matches to advance to Saturday's semifinal round. McDonald, who plays at Mississippi State, knocked off No. 11 Regina Plasencia 5 and 4 before defeating Jillian Hollis 2 and 1 to remain alive. Lee, the No. 2 seed, defeated No. 15 Ashley Holder and then defeated No. 10 Maria Torres. Lee and McDonald, two high-powered collegians that recently teamed up to represent the U.S. at the Curtis Cup, will square off in one of the semifinal matches Saturday. The other match will pit Adams, the No. 8 seed, against N. 12 Piyapattra. Adams defeated top seed Casey Danielson 1-up to advance to the semifinals.
