Leading late at The Greenbrier Course, O'Dell lost his tee shot on No. 16 into the water and eventually signed for a double-bogey to fall back into tie with Pat Carter with just two holes remaining. However, on the ensuing hole O'Dell showed his championship mettle. Following the double-bogey O'Dell headed to the par-5 17th and promptly birdied the hole and when Carter bogeyed it the lead was instantly back to two-strokes with only a single hole remaining.
On the par-4 18th O'Dell took the easy way home signing for a closing par. O'Dell has won all four of his West Virginia Amateur titles since 2013, he has also won three of the last four.
Beginning the week with a 2-over 72, O'Dell played his best round during Tuesday's second round when he fired a 3-under 67. He followed that up with an even-par 70 in the third round before carding a 3-over 73 on Thursday that put him at 2-over for the tournament.
Nick Biesecker was third at 5-over, Nick Dent took fourth at 10-over while Mason Williams and Christian Boyd were 12-over in fifth.
