SAMMAMISH, Wash. (July 2, 2014) -- Mark Anguiano shot a final-round 71 to close out a four-shot victory at the 2014 Sahalee Players Championship Wednesday at Sahalee Country Club.
Anguiano, who plays at Cal State Fullerton, entered the final round with the lead after rounds of 71-69-69 over the first three rounds -- and two days at the unique event.
He held off Corey Pereira of Washington and UNLV's Kurt Kitayama, who tied for second place.
Pereira shot 70 Wednesday while Kitayama stumbled to a 74 in the final round.
Sacrament State's James Beale finished alone in fourth place, closing with a 71, ahead of Mercer's Hans Reimers and Byron Meth of Pacific, who shared the lead after the first round.
Xander Schauffele, the recent California State Amateur winner and rising San Diego State star, shot the round of the day on Wednesday to climb up the leaderboard and into eighth place.
The Sahalee Players field was loaded with many college and junior stars. Among the notable finishes were: UCLA's Lorens Chan (T13), TCU's Eli Cole (T13), U.S. Junior champ and Texas signee Scott Scheffler (T23) and SMU's Bryson Dechambeau (T32).
