Jamie Van Wyk outlasted a grinding week of match play at Beau Desert Golf Club, closing out Louisiana Tech's Morton Bailey 4 & 2 in Sunday's 36-hole final to claim the English Amateur Championship.
Van Wyk, a Royal Lytham & St Annes member and the 2025 Welsh Men's Open champion, squeezed into the top 64 as the 34th seed at one-under 141 after rounds of 70-71 in stroke-play qualifying. Bailey, the Louisiana Tech junior from Crawley and a West Hove member, had entered the knockout rounds in far more commanding fashion as the No. 5 seed, posting 65-70 to finish seven-under 135.
