BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Nov. 13, 2014) — Corey Conners, winning medalist honors at the Argentine Amateur on Wednesday, got a well-deserved bye in the first round while all other 62 players fought in match play to advance to Friday's second and third rounds. Morantes, the No. 2 seed, defeated Ramiro Gallego 5-and-4 on Thursday and will advance to face Juan Ignacio Iturra on Friday morning. Conners, after the bye, will square off with Leandro Nicolas Albornoz. Other top seeds winning on the first day were Brazilian Andre Tourinho, Canadian Austin Connelly, Venezuelan Alejandro Perazzo, and Argentinian Jesus Dario Montenegro.
