VICTORIA, Australia (March 9, 2014) -- Teenage golfing sensation Ryan Ruffels, 15, has become the youngest player in its 106-year history to win the Riversdale Cup with a one-stroke victory on Sunday.
The son of former Australian Davis Cup tennis player Ray Ruffels beat a 120-strong field of the best amateur golfers from Australia, New Zealand and south-east Asia, finishing at eight-under 280.
Ruffels, of Victoria golf club, held off a determined challenge from Metropolitan's Todd Sinnott, who held a six-shot lead after two rounds of the country's premier amateur tournament.
Ruffels, a year 11 student at Haileybury College, described it as ''the best win of my career''.
