CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Quintin Pope, a sophomore at the University of Wyoming, used an opening-round 64 to cruise to a four-shot win at the 93rd Wyoming Amateur Championship. Pope, a high-school product from East High School in Cheyenne, made eight birdies in his first round where his 64 gave him a three-shot lead over Logan Harrison. Then in round two, Pope fired 66 while making two eagles, including one on the 320-yard par-4 second hole at Cheyenne's Airport Golf Club. Pope capped off the tournament with a final-round 68, posting 12-under 198 and beating high-schooler Jordan Costello by four. Costello, of Pinedale, Wyo., made a valiant comeback in the second round posting a 63 that included 10 birdies. But, sitting three shots behind Pope entering the last round was two much to overcome for the class-of-2016 golfer, as his 69 allowed him to settle for the runner-up position, which he held by four over PJ Thomas.
