Portuguese International Amateur: Moritz Lampert wins it

Lampert takes the title by two strokes over fellow German, Marcel Schneider and Frenchman Adrien Saddler

PALMELA, Portugal (Feb. 18, 2012) -- Two weeks after the success of Roberta Roeller at the International Ladies, today it was another German's turn, Moritz Lampert, winning the men's tournament played at the same course, Montado Golf Resort. Another German, Marcel Schneider, was second. It was no surprise that Moritz Lampert has today won the International Amateur Championship in Portugal, played at Montado Hotel & Golf Resort, near Setúbal. Starting the last round in front, with a lead of five strokes over the Frenchman Adrien Saddler, the German managed to win the tournament by two over Saddler and compatriot Marcel Schneider. Lampert, a native of Heidelberg, 19, totaled 279 strokes (68-74-65-72), nine below the Par 72, against 281, Saddler (72-70-70-69) and Schneider (77-68-70-66), who got the lowest round of the day. "I feel very well, I won one of the biggest tournaments in Europe and early in the season. I think that I'll win many more," said Lampert, who will turn professional at the end of the year.
