Picard Cup: Sam Jackson and Zachary Herold ride birdie binge to victory

With Henry Picard's family present, Canterbury was host to another great two days as mid-am and senior am winners were crowned.

Sam Jackson West Columbia, SC) and Zachary Herold (Gilbert, SC) rode a hot stretch in their final round to shoot 8-under par for the 54-hole Picard Cup at Canterbury in Ohio.

The duo shot 69-74-65. The first and third rounds are best ball and the middle round is an alternate shot. Their final round was highlighted by making birdies on nine of their final 14 holes to race to the top of the leaderboard.

Jackson has had a solid summer, with a T3 finish in the Lupton Cup, a 10th place finish in the South Carolina Amateur, and a T11 in the Palmetto Cup. Herold played his college golf at Coker University. He paired up with Dixon Walker to win the 2022 Mid-Am 4-ball championship.

In the senior division, TJ Brudzinski (Columbus, Ohio) and Ken Kinkopf (Jupiter, Fla) took home the trophy in dominating style. They recorded rounds of 69-73-67 to finish at 7-under par to lap the field by seven shots.

It was a special week as some of Henry Picard's family attended the event. The former pro at Canterbury was a Masters champion. His son, John, spoke on Wednesday night, and the family enjoyed taking in the competition on Thursday and Friday.
