Pan American Games Men's Tournament: Former PGA Tour winner Abraham Ancer wins Gold

North Carolina Senior Dylan Menante finished in third place to earn the bronze medal.

32-year-old Abraham Ancer of Mexico, a former winner on the PGA Tour, scored 21-under 267 with his rounds of 68-67-65-67 to win the Pan American Games Gold Medal at Prince of Wales Country Club in La Reina, Chile.

Sebastian Muñoz of Colombia, another former PGA Tour winner who now plays for Torque Golf in the LIV Golf League, scored 20-under 268 with his rounds of 66-66-68-68 to finish as the runners-up, earning a silver medal in the tournament.

Ancer, who now plays for Fireballs GC in the LIV Golf League, entered the final round tied for the lead at 16-under par. Ancer started strong with five birdies in his first six holes, propelling him to the lead. Muñoz was able to manage a 4-under 68 to remain one behind Ancer, who earned the first gold medal in men’s golf for Mexico in the Pan American Games.

Dylan Menante, a fifth-year student at the University of North Carolina, totaled 17-under 271 with his rounds of 66-69-70-66 to finish third for a bronze medal in the competition.

Fabrizio Zanotti of Paraguay, who plays on the DP World Tour, totaled 10-under 278 to finish ninth in Chile. Zanotti has previously won gold in the 2019 edition of the competition.

The Pan American Games (also known colloquially as the Pan Am Games) is a continental multi-sport event in the Americas featuring summer sports. The competition is held among athletes from nations of the Americas every four years in the year before the Olympic Games. The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) is the governing body of the Pan American Games movement, which included golf in 2015.
