Palmetto Intercollegiate: Campbell wins team; Ashton Harper takes individual glory

Campbell edges the field at Palmetto Golf Club while Ashton Harper of Virginia claims medalist honors at 8-under

Campbell University captured the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate team title, finishing at 10-under 830 (278-277-275) at Palmetto Golf Club, the second-oldest golf course in the United States.

The Camels held off UAB, which finished runner-up at 9-under 831 (279-278-275) in a tightly contested finish. Davidson, the 2024 champion, finished 13th at 36-over, while Clemson, the 2025 champion, did not compete in this year’s event.

In the individual competition, Virginia junior Ashton Harper claimed medalist honors at 8-under 202 after rounds of 63-68-71, securing a one-shot victory. Campbell sophomore Benjamin Killingstad finished runner-up at 7-under 203 (70-64-69) after posting the lowest round of the tournament, a 7-under 64 in the second round.

Campbell placed three players inside the top 15, highlighting the depth that powered the team victory. Killingstad’s runner-up finish led the Camels, while fellow Norwegian Joachim Larsen Tegner, a junior, finished T-4 at 4-under (67-72-67). Junior Erik Johansson added a T-14 finish at 1-over (71-70-70).

Statistically, Killingstad was among the tournament’s standout performers. The Norway native led the field in par-5 scoring at 7-under, tied for the tournament lead in eagles with two, and finished second in par-4 scoring at 3-under. He also recorded 13 birdies, tying for fourth most in the field.

Campbell’s balanced lineup and steady scoring across all three rounds ultimately proved decisive as the Camels secured the team title at one of the oldest and most historic venues in American golf.
