Oklahoma Open: Amateur Presten Richardson records top five finish, Sands shoots 59

Former Oklahoma U. start Blaine Hale won the title; Amateur Parker Sands fired a 59 in the second round

At the Oklahoma Open being held on the East Course at Oak Tree Golf Course this week, amateurs (and red numbers) have been all over the leaderboard.

First, Parker Sands of Edmond, Okla., shot a second-round 11-under 59, and then, Presten Richardson of Mount Vernon, Mo., shot a 13-under for the tournament and finished in solo fourth place.

Blaine Hale of Dallas, Tex., finished first at 16-under, Max McGreevy of Edmond, Okla., finished in solo second place at 15-under, and Brian Dwyer of Southlake, Tex., finished in solo third place at 14-under.

Richardson started the final round tied with Hale and McGreevy at 10-under. Richardson shot a final round 3-under 67, while Hale shot a round of 6-under 64, and McGreevy shot a round of 5-under 65. Dwyer shot a final round of 6-under 64 to leapfrog Richardson and into solo third place.

Tyler Collet of Vero Beach, Fla., finished in solo fifth place at 12-under.

Richardson shot a bogey-free round with three birdies. Overall, Richardson recorded 16 birdies and three bogeys for the tournament.

Sands followed his course record round of 59 up with a final round 1-under 69 to finish 10-under overall and T8.
