And then there were four…
The North & South Women’s championship began Friday with 16 potential contenders. 36 holes later, the field is down to four.
The 118th edition of the North & South Women’s Amateur saw just one upset in the quarterfinal round. Medalist and overall one-seed Ivy Shepherd snuck past Gina Kim 1 up and cruised by Megan Schofill 4 & 3 to set up a semifinal match up with Southern Cal’s Allisen Corpuz.
Corpuz, the 2019 medalist at the North & South Women’s Amateur, looks to make up for last year’s early exit. Winning her quarterfinal match against 2016 North & South Junior Champ, Lauren Beaudreau 1 up, Corpuz is two wins away from glory.
Rachel Kuehn was 2 down as she and No. 2 seeded Rachel Heck stood on the 15th tee. Nearly making an ace, Kuehn began her comeback, winning in 20 holes. She will face Haylin Harris who won her Round of 32 match 3 & 1 before beating top-ranked Emilia Migliaccio 4 & 3 to advance to the semifinals.
The semifinal matches begin at 7:00 am ET with the winners moving on to play for the Putter Boy trophy in the afternoon.
