Cory Shitsett fired a second-round 69 to help top-ranked Alabama extend its lead over rival Auburn at the NCAA Men's Golf Southeast Regional

AUBURN, Ala. (May 16, 2014) -- Cory Shitsett fired a second-round 69 to help top-ranked Alabama extend its lead over rival Auburn at the NCAA Men's Golf Southeast Regional. After two rounds, 'Bama holds a 15-shot advantage over Auburn. Whitsett is tied for the lead alongside Kennesaw State's Kelby Burton. The 2013 Northeast Amateur winner and U.S. Walker Cup team member opened play with a 71 before putting the Tide on his back in Round 2. For Auburn, Niclas Carlsson remained hot. He shot a second-round 72 while Will Long contributed a 73 to keep the Tigers in contention at their home course. Behind the strength of Burton's play, Kennesaw State is in third place.
