Francisco Solorza Gutierrez, 20, closed with a 4-under 67 to claim the Mexican National Amateur Championship at 9-under 275, holding off compatriot Gerardo Gomez Corona by one stroke. Solorza Gutierrez bogeyed the 72nd hole—his only dropped shot of the round—but his cushion proved sufficient as Gomez Corona finished at 8-under 276 after a 1-over 71.

The final round came down to a dramatic head-to-head duel between Solorza and Gómez, who traded the lead throughout the final round before Solorza separated himself over the closing holes. Gómez carded an even-par 71 to finish at 8-under 276, while Colombia's Mateo Payán surged into third place at 4-under 280 after posting the day's low round, a brilliant 5-under 66, to climb seven spots on the leaderboard.

Beyond adding his name to the historic Percy Clifford Trophy, Solorza also earned two significant championship exemptions. The victory secures him a place in the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship along with an exemption into final qualifying for the 127th U.S. Open, further elevating one of Latin America's premier amateur championships. The 98th edition featured a strong international field from across the region and served as a fitting centerpiece to the Mexican Golf Federation's 100th anniversary celebration, highlighting both the tournament's rich tradition and its growing role in developing elite amateur talent.

Two 20-year-old Mexicans — Vincent Cervantes and Gerardo Gomez Corona — sit atop the leaderboard at 5-under 137 through 36 holes at Club Campestre de la Ciudad de México.
