Madison Messimer turned a strong opening round into a runaway, posting rounds of 72-66-76 to win the South Carolina Women's Amateur Championship by nine strokes at Santee Cooper Country Club.
The Myrtle Beach native and University of Tennessee sophomore seized control in Friday's second round with a 6-under 66, building a cushion that proved insurmountable through Sunday's finale. She finished at 2-under 214, the only player under par for the 54-hole championship.
